A seamstress was someone who mended clothes for a living.
Rosa Parks was a seamstress in Montgomery, Alabama. She had wanted to be a teacher when she was younger, but ended up becoming a seamstress due to the ill health of her grandmother and mother. Mr Steele was a customer of hers. She was also given the Thirteenth Doctor's coat to mend to ensure she would leave work on time on the day of her historic arrest. (TV: Rosa)
