Colin Newman was an animatronics expert who took part in the creation of the Daleks and the TARDIS console for the first series of BBC Wales Doctor Who.[1]

He continued to work on the series until at least Voyage of the Damned.[2] In some episodes, his work included remotely operating Dalek domes and eyepieces.[3][4]

He appeared in episode 18 of Totally Doctor Who, as the Dalek radio controls operator for Evolution of the Daleks. Newman was later interviewed in Kylie Special, an episode of Doctor Who Confidential.

Newman was also in charge of animatronics for Doctor Who at the Proms 2008, and Dalek animatronics for Doctor Who at the Proms 2010. He remotely operated a Dalek at the Doctor Who: A Celebration concert in 2006.
