Professor Meechley was a biologist who taught at the University of Cambridge. Liz Shaw had studied under him. In the 1970s, Philip Larrent, a distant relative of his, tried to get an alien specimen from Sayle College to Meechley so he could examine it, but his car crashed on the way. The Third Doctor found the specimen and took it to Meechley, who knocked out the Doctor and stole the sample. He was later found when his car crashed and he was taken to the hospital.
