Robert Mammone was the writer of the Brief Encounters short story Roses, a prequel to the Doctor Who television story The Five Doctors. According to him, he sent it to the magazine and they accepted it, as well as giving him a free copy of DWM 214.[1]

He later wrote the Lethbridge-Stewart novella Travers & Wells, and its prequel, Time and Again.
