Ivan worked for Ganymede Systems aboard Chasm Forge. His smartsuit was off network when the remaining suits received a command to deactivate their living components. He was therefore one of the four survivors present when the Twelfth Doctor arrived aboard the station.
Ivan appeared to be a technician and was the crew member with the greatest understanding of how the smartsuits worked. He was instructed to look over the glitches in Bill's suit. He was also the one who wire the suit radio to Chasm Forge's dish, creating a distress signal.
Using the TARDIS, the Doctor returned both Ivan and Abby to Head Office so that they could make their complaints. (TV: Oxygen)
