Edvard was a scientist creating a machine to eventually replace the Integral. He didn't see the flaw in his plans when both the Second Doctor and Zoe Heriot showed him. He was systematically killing the Integral in order to show the owner of Aspen Base that the machine worked. After he had killed all except one Integral and his machine broke down, one of the patients started to regain his anger and killed him. (AUDIO: The Integral)
