Ludwig Cooray was an inventor from Ceylon. He was the illegitimate son of a German aristocrat.
In 1888 he helped to construct a God Machine.
He appeared in Mycroft Holmes' place at Pall Mall. When examined by John Watson, he had no pulse and was not breathing. It turned out that he was just a sophisticated recording. (PROSE: A Gallery of Pigeons)
