McCarthy was a British soldier heading a military operation in Uzbekistan in 2008. He asked Vitas to search the town. He asked Lucie Miller about why she was there. He went after the Eighth Doctor and Jason Taylor. After discovering and defeating the Nestene Consciousness, he wanted to employ the Doctor as his scientific adviser. (AUDIO: Brave New Town)
