Rod, along with Anton and Curly were members of Giles Kent's plot to take down Ramón Salamander. In 2018, they mistook the Second Doctor for Salamander and attacked him in their hovercraft, ignoring Astrid Ferrier's orders to hold their fire.

The three men chased Astrid, the Doctor and his companions Jamie McCrimmon and Victoria Waterfield to Astrid's bungalow, but in the firefight, Curly accidentally killed Rod. (TV: The Enemy of the World)
