Simon Corbett the husband of Laura Corbett, and a father to Edward. He was a fictional character, and accidentally opened a breach linking their world to the Land of Fiction. Laura kept Simon's non-existence a secret, as she so wanted him to be real.
He noticed that the books were reappearing in the empty library. He could sense his son when he disappeared, and had super-human abilities, which he employed to protect his wife and son. Simon eventually sacrificed himself to close the breach, in order to save his son's life. (AUDIO: The Crooked Man)
