Trailer Maker was a video editing tool and game introduced in April 2008. Users could create their own ultimate Doctor Who trailer, using a mix of video clips (including raw green screen footage), images, sound effects and music tracks from the second and third series of the BBC Wales era.[1][2]

The trailers were stored on the website for six months and given a unique code, so that users could share their creations with friends and family. Users were welcomed with a video message from David Tennant and Catherine Tate. Most of the music and sound effects have never seen a commercial release. Video clips from Series 4 were added in the weeks after transmission.[3][4]

That autumn, due to popular demand, a selection of clips from Series 1 were also added.[5]

Around the end of 2012, the BBC One Doctor Who website discontinued hosting of Trailer Maker, along with Comic Maker, phasing out its old material to make room for "new games and innovative content" during the 50th anniversary year of the series. [6]
