Zake was one of a group of GalSec colonists stranded on Earth after their ship was destroyed while answering a fake distress signal.
While patrolling, Zake and Erak came across the Fourth Doctor, and Erak left to tell the others. Styre's robot disrupted his vigil and he was forced to flee. To get away, he tried to climb down a crevice, but slipped and broke his neck. Having heard his scream, the Doctor went to the scene, and when Erak and Krans arrived, he was blamed for Zake's death. (TV: The Sontaran Experiment)
