Clegg was a patient at Hawthorne. He was murdered on Ward 4 by the reservoir of evil through Patient Zero. His body was discovered by an orderly who called Dr Beatrice Hearst and Dr William Bruffin to the scene. His death was covered up by Dr Colin Dove so as not to put the hospital's twelve-month reprieve thanks to Peter Russell in jeopardy. Dr William Bruffin felt guilty about doing so.
