Madame Nostradamus was the wife of Nostradamus. The Fourth Doctor claimed that she had knitted his scarf, describing her as "a witty little knitter". (TV: The Ark in Space)
Behind the scenes
Nostradamus had two wives during his lifetime, the first having an unknown name (possibly Henriette d'Encausse) and the second named Anne Ponsarde. It is unknown which of these women was the one who knitted the Doctor's scarf.
