Michael was a scientist.
He was asked to investigate Stahlman's ooze, which he agreed to do, coining the name "Primord" for those infected by it. He invited Liz Shaw to join him and the two entered into a romantic relationship, becoming engaged. He later became a Primord due to a tear in one of his gloves and was kept hidden by Liz.
