Vasser Dust was a waste bi-product of time travel and trans-dimensional travel.

The dust looked like frost and was always cold, even though what it covered was not. It had telepathic qualities. When Edward Drakefell touched it, the dust gave him a glimpse outside of normal spacetime, into the time vortex. (PROSE: Loving the Alien)
