Dr Who was a fictional character in the 1967 Japanese King Kong film King Kong Escapes. He was a mad scientist. (PROSE: The Adventuress of Henrietta Street)
Behind the scenes
A character called Dr Who was indeed played by Hideyo Amamoto in King Kong Escapes. Though bearing a faint resemblance to William Hartnell's First Doctor, both in appearance and in attire, the character was a villainous roboticist as opposed to a mostly benevolent time traveller, and it is generally held that the similarities with the BBC character were coincidental.
