Newfoundland

Newfoundland was an island in North America visited by the First Doctor and Viking Eric The Red.

History

In 1002, The Tardis landed in Greenland due to a leak in its Plutonium battery. The nearest Plutonic ore was located within Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Doctor enlisted the aid of Viking Eric The Red to retrieve the Plutonium, once he succeeded he went off to what would eventually become Nova Scotia. (PROSE: Who Discovered America?)

Behind The Scenes

In the Real World Newfoundland was the first known non native settlement in North America.

Newfoundland would later become a colony of England and The United Kingdom, becoming a Dominion for the time of the First World War and would eventually join Canada in 1949.
