- You may be looking for the real-life Dicky Howett.
Dicky Howett and Tim Quinn were two individuals whose usual occupation was to work a huge bellows in the deep recesses of the Doctor's TARDIS so as to produce the "Vworp! Vworp!" sound whenever it took off or landed.
An Alien Extermination Kit was, at some point, developed and sold on Earth by Howett and Quinn for "only £150 plus VAT". To promote it, Quinn and Howett published a "quiz" to allow children to divine whether their Dad was an evil alien in disguise. (NOTVALID: Is Your Dad An Evil Alien?)
The two temporarily landed a job creating The Doctor Who Fun Book and were allowed to leave the TARDIS for the duration, though they reluctantly returned to their old job once they were done. (NOTVALID: Outta Space) They had, among other things, researched archeological records of the Doctor's activities throughout pre-1963 Earth history. (NOTVALID: Who Was 'Ere!)
