Dame

Dame was a title that could be granted to somebody by a British monarch.

Queen Victoria knighted Rose Tyler as "Dame Rose of the Powell Estate". (TV: Tooth and Claw)

Shirley Bassey was knighted as a dame sometime in the 1900s. (PROSE: Cultural Firsts)
