Glasgow University (TV: Death in Heaven) was a university. The Second Doctor claimed to have taken a medical degree there in 1888, (TV: The Moonbase) a fact which was later referenced by Clara Oswald when she was pretending to be the Doctor. (TV: Death in Heaven)
