Lynda Baron (born 24 March 1939[1]) played Captain Wrack in the Doctor Who television story Enlightenment and Val in Closing Time. Years earlier, in 1966, Baron recorded the original song "The Ballad of the Last Chance Saloon" for the soundtrack of the serial The Gunfighters. She had two stints in the BBC show EastEnders. She is probably best known as Nurse Gladys Emmanuel in the sitcom Open All Hours, as well as Auntie Mabel in the children's programme Come Outside.
