Despite having only been in control of humanity for six months, the monks broadcasted this false history to brainwash humanity into believing that they had been guiding them throughout human evolution. The broadcast was amplified by [[Monk statue|statues of the Monks]], erected worldwide at the time of invasion.

During the Monks' six month occupation of Earth in the late 2010s, the "True History" was a propaganda message presented by the Twelfth Doctor, which told the Monks' altered version of human history. Among other influences, the Monks took credit for saving Earth from the Daleks, the Cybermen, and the Weeping Angels.
