A war was fought on the planet Kahler.
After nine years, the war had decimated half of Kahler. Kahler-Jex was one of a team who were assigned to bring peace. Taking Kahler volunteers, they told them that they had been selected for special training, then experimented on them, turning them into cyborgs as they fused their bodies with weaponry, and programmed them to kill. Ultimately, an army was built that routed the enemy and ended the war in less than a week which, as Jex would later claim, saved millions of lives. Once the war was over, the Kahler had their cyborgs decommissioned. One, Kahler-Tek, who Jex presuemd had got its circuitry damaged in battle, went offline and began hunting down the team that modified him. Jex escaped to Earth in the late 19th century.
