"The Clocksmith" was the main alias used by a renegade Time Lord artist and a member of the Doom Coalition.

Biography

Using a device which could hold his subjects in stasis, the Clocksmith made such works of art such as the Golden Draconians of Malbara IV, for which the Draconian emperors praised him. (AUDIO: The Eighth Piece) He joined the Doom Coalition and, using his Type 70 TARDIS, visited the homeworld of the Solvers to gain their trust and learn how to control them, after which he disassembled Lady Risolva. (AUDIO: The Doomsday Chronometer)

Taking the Solvers to 15th century Prague to serve as his henchmen, the Clocksmith cooled and collected the Syran metal deposited by the Eleven's TARDIS to make the Doomsday Chronometer, (AUDIO: The Eighth Piece) his contribution to the Coalition. (AUDIO: The Doomsday Chronometer) He convinced the duke to imprison the Eight in Prague Castle, unable to kill him due to his knowledge of the Eleven. (AUDIO: The Eighth Piece)

Before even beginning to make the Chronometer, the Clocksmith learnt that it would be separated across time and planned ahead so that he would be able to reassemble it at a later date, watching the Eighth Doctor, Liv Chenka and Helen Sinclair take a piece to Midge. He formed the Revelation Sect to track down the pieces across time and was repeatedly hassled by the appearance of a nun, River Song. Thanks to a false report, he believed that he had had the Doctor executed by Thomas Cromwell in 1538.

The Clocksmith gained the ticket for the piece at Midge's lost property office from Liv but lost control of the Solvers when Lady Risolva returned. He assembled the Chronometer at the Science Museum in Rome in 2016, being given the eighth piece by Helen and forcing River to give him the final spring. He was torn apart by the Solvers and Risolva's orders, but not before causing the Eight's regeneration. (AUDIO: The Doomsday Chronometer)

Legacy

The Doctor, using a psychic wimple, pretended to be the Clocksmith to infiltrate the Crucible of Souls and fool Padrac and other members of the Coalition. (AUDIO: The Crucible of Souls)

Personality

The Clocksmith worked with various mediums of artwork but preferred working with metal, including encasing people in metals like lead and strontium. He used his device to freeze people's molecules to capture the perfect pose for his art whilst subjecting them to terrific pain. (AUDIO: The Doomsday Chronometer)
