:Again I say perhaps we should dump the platform one template, as well as not having the lord president one. I'd be down to use "President of the Supreme Council", a gender-neutral term originating in a valid Doctor Who source, especially since it complements President of the United States. (Or we could just use the name for the position as first mentioned in the DWU, like we do with War Queen and War King.) But regardless of gender neutrality concerns, since by all accounts "Lord President" is the prefix used by those in the position, but "President of the Supreme Council" (or "President of the High Council", which sounds far more familiar but I can't easily find a source for) is the name of the position itself, this page deserves a rename. – N8 ☎ 04:09, November 12, 2017 (UTC)

Out of the current suggestions, my favourite is certainly President of the High Council. It's not too long and I feel like the "High Council" is more associated to the Time Lords than the "Supreme Council" is. --Borisashton <span title="Talk to me">☎</span> 01:29, January 6, 2020 (UTC)
: Agree! I think it's a name that's as recognizable to readers as Lord President, plus it matches how we have High Council named. I wouldn't oppose having "of Gallifrey" on the end, but it's a bit superfluous, similar to how the afforementioned President of the United States doesn't have "of America" also, despite being the more formal name.  Toqgers <span title="Talk to me">☎</span> 01:54, February 4, 2020 (UTC)

Possible Templateedit source

Should we have a template from timelord presidents like we do for timlords, monsters and appearances ? Dark Lord Xander 06:40, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Doubt it. There doesn't seem to be enough of them to make them worthwhile. -<Azes13 15:02, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Well tecnically there are seven (six of which we currently have pages for) and two unnamed. I mean hey we've made templates that show less. Dark Lord Xander 06:22, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Perhaps that's an argument to get rid of those templates (that show less) as well. --Tangerineduel 07:03, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Perhaps it could be interpreted like that but then again maybe not Dark Lord Xander 10:24, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

That is exactly what I was thinking. At best, there should be templates for very important or very large topics. Not minor ones like this. -<Azes13 16:25, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Rename tag - gender neutral termedit source

The rename tag was added 3 years ago and was recently removed from this page, in the intervening time there hasn't been any discussion concerning the topic raised on the rename tag.

The most common usage for the holder of office is "Lord President". "Lady President" redirects to this page.

Renaming the page to "President" wouldn't work because of the page President dealing with that as general subject.

An option is to use the title "President of the Supreme Council of Gallifrey", taking the first part of the title mentioned by Romana in The Inquiry. The problem with this it's accurate to a point, but we would be cutting off some of the title to maintain its gender neutrality. --Tangerineduel / talk 16:15, September 26, 2017 (UTC)

Just want to add that it isn't the purpose of this wiki to decide that we need gender-neutral terms for in-universe pages; we use narrative information from the stories to name our pages. Shambala108 02:15, November 12, 2017 (UTC)

– N8 04:09, November 12, 2017 (UTC)

In Forever (audio story), Romana refers to herself as "President of the High Council of Gallifrey", then in Extermination (audio story), the daleks refer to her with the same title. Perhaps the move could be to President of the High Council or President of the High Council of Gallifrey? Danochy 05:11, December 4, 2019 (UTC)

Out of the current suggestions, my favourite is certainly President of the High Council. It's not too long and I feel like the "High Council" is more associated to the Time Lords than the "Supreme Council" is. --Borisashton 01:29, January 6, 2020 (UTC)
