Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924) was an Italian composer. The Doctor met him just before he died in Brussels, Belgium from complications due to treatment for throat cancer. Dr. Grace Holloway was a fan of Puccini, and listened to Madame Butterfly while she performed exploratory surgery on the Seventh Doctor. (DW: Doctor Who)
