Brian Proudfoot (15 March 1932[1]-7 September 2009[2]) is perhaps most significant as the first actor to be featured in location filming on Doctor Who. He was the uncredited double for William Hartnell in The Reign of Terror. He was photographed from the back in long shots in sequences where the First Doctor was meant to be roaming the French countryside on foot. (DWM 204) He doubled for Hartnell again in The Space Museum. (DWM 316) He also played, uncredited, a Parisian citizen in The Reign of Terror and an Aridian in The Chase. (DWMS Summer 1993)

His only credited role was as Tigellinus in The Romans.
