Ernest Vincze, BSC — usually credited as Ernie Vincze, BSC — is the longest-serving cinematographer in the history of Doctor Who. This distinction applies even when counting the people who were credited in the 1963 version as having provided "studio lighting". He was the first (and, as of Matt Smith's first series) only person who was a member of the British Society of Cinematographers at the time of their work on Doctor Who.[1]
Vincze was the exclusive director of photography for the Christopher Eccleston series, and then began to alternate production blocks with Rory Taylor, following David Tennant's hiring. He fully "bookended" the Russell T Davies era, by lighting both Rose and The End of Time.
