"Jim" was the code name used by P.R.O.B.E. Director Giles in his video diaries for one of his contacts at MI6. He had a house in London.
In November 2020, surprised at a CIA file which even his P.R.O.B.E. access code did not allow him to read, Giles rang up Jim to ask him if there was any conspiracy afoot that he knew of. Jim looked around and began sending Giles paranoid-sounding messages about how he was now being followed due to involving himself in the mysterious affair.
After a long silence followed by the laconic text message "Got the virus", Giles grew suspicious and investigated the outside of Jim's house. Spying through a window that Jim had been tied to his chair with a mysterious pink slime, Giles broke in and tried to rescue him, only to fall prey to it as well. The two were eventually rescued by Liz Haggard, who figured out that the slime was controlled by a benevolent alien entity that was simply trying to plug the gap between its world and theirs.
