Count Grendel of Gracht was a Taran count and cousin of Tara's rightful ruler prince Reynart, who he had imprisoned along with princess Strella. He made a plan to become king of Tara. His plan was revealed by the Doctor and Romana, and he was defeated in a swordfight by the Doctor. Following this, he was exiled by Reynart.
