John was Holly's husband. When their two children Ben and Connie went missing during a game of hide and seek, he went searching for them. He eventually found them but all three of them were still lost inside a dying TARDIS. It wasn't until the Twelfth Doctor and Hattie Munroe arrived that he and his children were found.
