Rename[[edit source]]

Surely this should be called "King David" or "David (Byzantium!)" as the Biblical King David isn't the only David in existence. I really do wish that I could rename this page but alas I have to ask one of the moderators as my rename would just get undone. Rollface in 3d spac (GarfielfStuff) 03:28, 12 September 2021 (UTC)

The question here is if King David is the primary topic in the DWU. Tardis:Disambiguation suggests leaving out the dab term if we determine that he is.
One relevant precedent is Victoria, who was considered a primary topic not just because she's a monarch, but because other Victorias in the DWU (including one Victoria who's arguably more notable to our readers) would have been named after her. In the real world, King David is the major reason why a lot of Jews (and later Christians) chose this name, which then became commonplace enough to stay strong in our more secular world.

Another facet is that (unless there's a major source we aren't covering yet) David has not appeared in the DWU. This means the (Byzantium!) dab term is not really correct, as it's not his first appearance as a character. So though it means overriding T:HONOUR, King David would be the preferable name if David's not deemed primary, taking into account all the policies.

While I see what you mean, I think Victoria has a much stronger presence than this David has in the DWU, who, as you remarked, has not even appeared in any stories. Even with Victoria, there is an ongoing discussion on whether she should be disambiguated too.
When I added the rename tag, I initially suggested, with T:HONOUR in mind, that it should be moved to David (king), owing to his lack of appearance in any stories. Whether we override that rule or not, I'm not sure, but it is something that was also suggested on Victoria's talk page. Danochy 06:07, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
