Bethany Black (born 24 December 1978[1]) played 474 in the Doctor Who television story Sleep No More.

She was a comedian and had previously appeared in Russell T Davies' series Cucumber and Banana, the former of which also starred Cyril Nri.

She was notable for being the first openly transgender actor to appear in Doctor Who.[2] Outside of the DWU, Black was also notable for being the first trans actor to play a trans character in a starring role on British television, as well as the first to do so on US network television, due to her role in Banana.
