The Little Planet was the first short story in DWPM 3, which was devoted to the Silurians. Serving a similar role to The Creation of the Cybermen in the the previous issue, it was an overview of the Silurians' backstory, adapted from portions of a Target novelisation — in this case, Doctor Who and the Cave-Monsters by Malcolm Hulke, the text being reproduced with "kind permission" from Virgin Books.
Summary
When a "little wandering planet" threatens the atmosphere of the Earth, the reptile people hide themselves beneath the Earth's crust in eternal sleep — and are oblivious as the catastrophe comes and goes with the atmosphere intacts, the little planet caught in Earth's gravity to become what the next species to dominate the planet will call the Moon!

- The Brilliant Book 2011 contained a different Silurian prose story called The Little Planet.
Continuity
- A species of reptile people went into hiding for fear of the Earth losing its atmosphere to a "planet" which ended up becoming the Moon. (TV: Doctor Who and the Silurians)
