Father Thane was the head of the Church on Florana in its early history. He was loyal to the High Priest before overhearing it admit its lies to the Fifth Doctor. Realising that he had been used, he killed the Priest and started a war, planning on using the Cleansing Fire to wipe non-believers from the planet. He was killed when Garthak crashed a fighter jet into the cathedral to stop him from unwittingly summoning more of the Hight Priest's people, the Daleks. (AUDIO: The Elite)
