White Lightning was an alcoholic beverage in the 2010s. According to Clara Oswald, Courtney Woods used the Twelfth Doctor's psychic paper as a fake ID to buy alcopops and White Lightning. (TV: Kill the Moon)
Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- If the White Lightning mentioned in this instance is in fact the beverage, this creates an anachronism, as Kill the Moon is set roughly around 2014 for the Coal Hill School sequences, and White Lightning was discontinued in 2009 in the real world.
- Possible explanations could be that in the DWU, White Lightning never discontinued (although instances of the franchise not mimicking the real world are few and far between), or Courtney snuck off in the TARDIS alone whenever she could (although the chances of knowing how to control it would be slim).
- In the real world, "white lightning" is also a slang term for very high proof moonshine, as well as a name given to a specific type of LSD. (the latter, though, would also involve TARDIS time travel).
