The Ice Maiden was a survey ship that was later augmented by alien technology. (COMIC: World Without End)

History

Originally the ship was used by Henry Collins - known as Cash - and his father to conduct survey trips for British Petroleum and Exxon. However, following his father's death, Cash later retrofitted the ship with air cannons, state-of-the-art sonar trawls, acoustic sensors and a full deck of electronic equipment, and renamed it the Ice Maiden. He used the ship's new facilities to work for oceanic and geology departments and scientific institutes. He also occasionally allowed for governments and their agencies to use the ship to perform missions that were under the radar. In 2012, Cash and the Ice Maiden crew aided Jack Harkness in dealing with the Helix Intelligence crisis. (PROSE: Exodus Code)

The Ice Maiden eventually became a base for the Torchwood Insitute, and Jack began exploring Earth and other planets alongside Captain Dana MacLeish, weapon specialist Hollis, technician Vlad Lidenbrok, and artificial intelligence Shelley. During one incident, which occurred when the team were returning to Earth from the third planet in the Otega system, they were attacked by ninjas on jet-skis. The team went on to enlist Rona Moss, as well as Jack's former associates Gwen Cooper and Rhys Williams. (COMIC: World Without End) and human/vervoid hybrid Sladen also eventually joined the team. The crew of the Ice Maiden eventually "dumped" Jack, and he returned to life on Earth. (AUDIO: Aliens & Sex & Chips & Gravy)
