42 Prologue was a web-exclusive short story published on the BBC's Doctor Who website in 2007, promoting the then-upcoming broadcast of the episode 42. It was the first of several Tenth Doctor short stories to be published online up to the end of 2009.

Summary

Focusing on Engineering Trainee Erina Lessak, the story reflects back on how she became a trainee, her feelings about the crew, and her activities in the minutes preceding the arrival of the Doctor and Martha Jones aboard the SS Pentallian.
