Breaking Free! was the twentieth short story in Doctor Who The Official Annual 2022. The story is told via a series of psychic paper diary entries from the Thirteenth Doctor, that are presented as being composed in real time as she escapes with Jack Harkness from the Judoon prison during the events of Revolution of the Daleks.

Summary

In a psychic paper note, the Doctor talks about how it's always sad when a chapter of her life ends, and that Yaz and her will miss Graham and Ryan loads, before expressing her belief that the TARDIS won't be quiet for long, pondering that maybe the reader will join her: she ends by asking the reader what they think might happen if they did…
