::: Wholeheartedly agree. Listing "doppelgängers" that just so happen to be played by the same actor makes this article (and likewise the mentioned category) bloated and... useless. Furthermore, no reader will come to this article looking for "multiple characters played by the same actor". If someone is interested why the Soothsayer from The Fires of Pompeii and Amy Pond look alike, all they need to do is check the "actor" field in their infoboxes, and I'm pretty confident they'll figure out the reason they do :p
::: This article should reserve itself to instances where characters are said to look like each other (either bc they happen to be played by the same actor, or becuase lookalike actors were purposefully hired for such a purpose). Shouldn't Meglos' impersonation of the Fourth Doctor be listed as a Deliberate Dopplegenger rather than a Concidental one? Quornhog 21:57, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Eighth Doctor parallel universeedit source

Can't remember the name of the audio, but the Doctor travelled to a universe where his life was a show, and he met Tom Baker, who portrayed his fourth incarnation. Shouldn't this be on the page? The Thirteenth Doctor 22:08, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

When is a doppelgänger a doppelgänger?edit source

I think that characters played by the same actor in separate stories should be removed from Coincidental Doppelgängers (unless their shared appearance is mentioned in-universe) and the alternative universe examples be removed from Other. - Jack "BtR" Saxon 11:10, 12 December 2022 (UTC)

Exactly. This has been discussed to some extent with the Doctor due to Category talk:Look alikes of the Doctor which grouped every single instance of any character played by an actor who, even briefly or in audio roles where there is no visual depiction of said Doctor, played the Doctor. 13:47, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
I feel like these occasions are where we are supposed to willingly suspend our disbelief in any reason for two characters looking so much alike. In such a vast universe as the DWU, there are going to be uncountable instances where two characters resemble each other without being dopplegangers or twins or whatever. The out-of-universe knowledge that they are the same actors is not applicable when discussing them in-universe (T:NO RW). To make a long story short, I agree with the above two posters. Wholeheartedly agree.
This article should reserve itself to instances where characters are said to look like each other (either bc they happen to be played by the same actor, or becuase lookalike actors were purposefully hired for such a purpose). OncomingStorm12th 16:53, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
