A hungry man was a character from A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens.

At one point in the book, Jacques One requested that the Mender of Roads wait outside while the group, including Jacques One, Jacques Two, Defarge and the hungry man, discussed their plans. They all agreed: "The château and all the race". The hungry man then croaked "Magnificent", and began gnawing on another finger.

Pages featuring the hungry man appeared on Toshiko Sato's computer, after she transferred the data from copy of the physical book using an alien data scanner. (TV: Everything Changes)
