Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Technet group was created by Alan Davis for Marvel Comics in 1985.

The team were first referenced in Law and Disorder, a comic from the second issue of Captain Britain Volume 2, with the team's leader Gatecrasher - and her telepathic pet lizard Yap - making their debut in the next issue's story Flotsam and Jetsam. The fourth issue's comic Sid's Story introduced the entire first incarnation of the Technet team including; Fascination, Thug, Ferro, Elmo, Ringtoss, Pandora and Paradok. Both Fascination and Ringtoss were later revealed to be earlier versions of the Special Executive members seen in The Daredevils' Executive Action, while Thug was the brother of another member Legion. Alarms and Excurisons would later depict a storyline where most of the Technet roster joined the Special Executive.

Marvel Comics' revamped Technet in a bid to distance itself from the DWU.

The Sword is Drawn debuted a new Technet roster. Gatekeeper, Yap, Fascination, Thug and Ringtoss were all retained and new members included Bodybag, China Doll. Waxworks - who was identical to previous member Elmo - and Joyboy. Special Executive member Numbers later joined in My Friends Call Me 'Billy the Kid'! and Ferro², the brother of original member Ferro, rounded out the team in The Marriage of True Minds. One final member of the team came in the form of Hard-Boiled Henry, who has the distinction of being the only Technet member not to have crossed over with the DWU.

The entry for the Technet in the X-Men: Phoenix Force Handbook (2010) explicitly identifed Thug and Fascination as "loom-born Gallifreyans".
