The Mire transported the warriors of the village to their [[Mire spaceship|ship]], where they were killed, leaving "Lofty" and the other villagers defenceless. Following this, he agreed to train for battle under the tutelage of the Doctor.
After the Mire abducted the village's warriors and [[Ashildr]] had declared war on them, Brot was one of the ones who was chosen to train with the Doctor to become a true Viking warrior. He was perplexed when the Doctor rejected his true name and instead began to call him Lofty.


He was trained by the Doctor to fight with a [[sword]], but he eventually came to terms with the Doctor's plan of using [[electric eel]]s to generate [[electricity]] to defeat the Mire.
"Lofty" had a [[Lofty's child|child]], who was inadvertently responsible for helping the Doctor construct an elaborate plan to defeat the Mire using [[electric eel]]s and metal wiring. "Lofty" was a nickname used by the Twelfth Doctor for a Viking blacksmith whom he trained to be a warrior to fight the Mire.
