Bacterium

Bacteria were usually microscopic organisms which lived in a variety of environments. Some lived in symbiotic or parasitic relationships with larger lifeforms, becoming necessary for life, while others could be disease-causing agents, depending on the host's species. Historians who had been allowed access to the "Monster Vaults" of the databanks in the Doctor's TARDIS likened the Abzorbaloffs' absorption ability to a bacterium or a tapeworm, all essentially parasitic in nature. (PROSE: The Monster Vault)

The Ablative was a bacterium which was created by the First Doctor in an experiment which he conducted while at the Time Lord Academy, with the ensuing scandal nearly getting him expelled until it was covered up by the Academy, who believed that all of the samples had been destroyed. The disease became more widespread and fatal the following year, after a deadlier strain of the bacterium Yersinia pestis was engineered by a group of escaped Terileptil criminals. Bacteria "the size of a badger" lived on the 1.3 billion-ton creature incubating inside the Moon which was in fact an egg the creature was growing inside. They had eight legs and what looked like teeth and had a similar appearance to a spider. (TV: Kill the Moon)

An experiment at Agrofuel Research Operations accidentally created a modified strain of the bacterium R planticola, capable of rapidly killing plants and humans. As predicted by the Monks, after the bacteria was released, the Earth would be dead within a year. The Twelfth Doctor managed to destroy the bacteria before this could come to pass but the events allowed the Monks to take over Earth for six months.
