Dick Sharples (7 June 1927-19 October 2015[1]) was an English television and radio writer. In 1968, he wrote the original television version of Prison in Space. After the production team expressed their unhappiness with the script and Sharples refused to rewrite it again, the story was dropped in favour of The Krotons.

In 2010, the script was adapted for audio by Simon Guerrier for The Lost Stories series.
