Jack May (born 23 April 1922 in Henley-on-Thames, died 19 September 1997 in Hove, East Sussex[1][2]) played General Nikolai Hermack in the Doctor Who television story The Space Pirates.

Career[[edit] | [edit source]]

May’s best known role was that of William E. Simms, the titular character’s butler in Adam Adamant Lives! (1966-67). His other credits included A for Andromeda (1961), The Avengers (1964), Out of the Unknown (1965), The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (1981) and the films Trog (1970) and The Man Who Would Be King (1975). He also voiced Igor in Count Duckula (1988-1993).

For forty-five years he provided the voice of Nelson Gabriel on The Archers and voiced Theoden in BBC Radio's 1981 adaptation of The Lord of the Rings.
