He tried to learn what PhiCorp's involvement with Miracle Day was, reviewing relevant satellite photographs and documents and asking Zheng Yibao in Shanghai to investigate a potentially important site in the city. His investigation was unsuccessful. While dining at a restaurant with his wife, Owens was approached by Jack Harkness, who fooled him into believing he had kidnapped Tanner.
