The first issue of the Doctor Who DVD Files - "The Ultimate Build-up Doctor Who Encyclopaedia" had a cover date of 14 January 2009.

Collectible loose leaf pages divided into seven categories that could be filed accordingly.
- Who is the Doctor?

- First Contact shows the First Doctor and Susan surrounded by the Daleks.

- Each issue came with a DVD release covering two episodes.
- Reversible DVD sleeves enabled the collector to display one of two designs featuring either the Doctor and his enemies or his companions.
- "Is someone trying to take over Britain's shops?"
- It's just another day for Rose Tyler — until she's menaced by shop dummies that come alive and meets a man who will change her life forever, the Doctor!
