Benjamin Green was a representative of the Founding Families of the Elysium system.
He was sent to the Artifact to find Mark Bannen. He met an expedition exploring the Artefact. Bannen destroyed it to preserve the Artefact's secrets. Green was infected by the Artefact and mutated into a crystalline being and lost all his memories. When Bernice Summerfield met him following the change, she called him Midnight.
